Rubio v. Christie in Palm Beach

Two heavyweights (no pun intended for Gov. Christie) in Republican politics – and both potential 2016 GOP presidential rivals - will be in Palm Beach next week for separate fundraisers before heading to Coral Gables for a weekend with top Republican National Committee donors.

They are Florida Sen. Marco Rubio and New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie.

Christie is up for reelection this year, and seems to be cruising towards a victory.  He’ll attend a $3,800-a-head cocktail reception on March 7 at the home of Jana and John Scarpa.

Rubio is raising money for his Rubio Victory Committee with a $1,000 cocktail reception at the home of Jim and Dot Patterson and a $10,000-a-person dinner at the home of Pepe Fanjul, according to Michele Dargan in The Palm Beach Daily News.

On March 9 and 10, Rubio and Christie will be at The Biltmore in Coral Gables for an RNC event that also features former Florida Gov. Jeb Bush, Wisconsin Gov. Scott Walker and Texas Sen. and tea party superstar Ted Cruz.

So, who do you like for President in 2016?

Dick Armey’s FreedomWorks Endorses Connie Mack

Dick Armey’s FreedomWorks, which is a financial backer of the tea party movement, has endorsed Connie Mack.  They had previously endorsed Adam Hasner in the race.

Max Pappas, the Executive Director of FreedomWorks PAC criticized George LeMieux, whom some consider Mack’s leading opponent, as a self-proclaimed “Charlie Crist Republican.” He claims LeMieux “worked with Democrats to advance subsidies, environmental mandates and multiple bills expanding the authority of government.”

He says that Mack, while serving in Congress “took bold positions to hold government accountable when very few others would, voting twice against the TARP bailout, fighting stimulus spending.”

FreedomWorks PAC has more than 102,000 Florida members.

How Old Facebook Posts Can Come Back to Haunt You: Jewish Democratic Outreach Chair Jokes about “Jewbags” on her Facebook Page back in 2006

The Washington Beacon dug up an interesting tidbit from the Facebook page of one Dani Gilbert, who used to be Debbie Wasserman Schultz’s staffer and is now the Jewish outreach liaison for the Democratic party.  The pictures are from 2006 —- CLICK ON THE PHOTOS BELOW TO ENLARGE:

Update: The pictures can no longer be accessed through Facebook but we have posted them here:

“The Democratic Party’s newly appointed Jewish outreach liaison is pictured on Facebook in a series ofprovocative photos with her friends holding dollar bills and referring to themselves as “Jewbags” and the “Jew cash money team!”

Dani Gilbert, who has been a staffer in the office of Rep. Debbie Wasserman Schultz (D., Fla.), was recently appointed as the Democratic National Committee’s Jewish outreach liaison, according to her Twitter feed.Photos publicly available on her Facebook page depict her engaged in the kind of youthful displays that social media like Facebook and Twitter have made increasingly common and problematic for young Washington staffers.

In one photo, Gilbert is seen kissing paper currency of undetermined denomination. The caption at the bottom of the photo reads “JEWBAGS.” A comment left on the posting refers to Gilbert and a coterie of female companions as the “Jew cash money team.” Other photos depict Gilbert as a bit of a party girl, including one featuring an assortment of condoms.

Recent juvenile antics on Twitter have led to the firing of several Capitol Hill staffers, who referred to their “idiot boss,” Rep. Rick Larsen (D., Wash), on the popular microblog site.
A senior GOP aide with close ties to the Jewish community emailed the Washington Free Beacon in response to this report.

“A lot of folks on both sides of the aisle know Dani and these photos do not reflect her professionalism,” the aide wrote.
